ARCE Racing Bio

For the love of the sport, driver Dave Arce has been racing on and off at Cajon Speedway since 1995 in the Late Model Stock Division (Street Stocks). The original goal for racing was to test engine components that would be used in Arce manufactured engines and that would give the best cost, life and durability a product could offer.

The race car we built was a 1970 Chevelle with a Chevy 350 engine. In 1995, this was the most popular chassis to use. In this time of testing, many different products were used and we encountered several different failures. As a result of these failures, Arce manufactured engines would decide not to use these products from these manufacturers.

As a result of the testing, Arce remanufactured engines has purchased and stocked an excellent line of products to be used in our standard engine rebuilding. These same results have also allowed us to build performance engines at a reasonable cost. For our racing use, we can now build our own engines for 1/4 of the cost of other comparable engines in our racing class.

In 1998, Arce Racing Development (ARD) was established. This is the formal name that was given to the team by Vanorsdale Insurance Vice President, Steve Coviello. As testing continues today, the ARD program has been climbing the point standings each year. In 1999, the team placed 17th and in 2000 moved up to 9th place overall.

The 2001 season brought a rough year with damage to the old Chevelle. We placed a disappointing 11th for the season in points, but made every race. The team is building a new race car - a 2001 Monte Carlo. The body is mounted on a '78 Buick chassis and should show major improvement in handling. For the 2002 season the team will be expecting their first Main Event win and a top five finish in the season points.

The 2002 race season brought us a better year with the 2001 Vanorsdale Insurance Monte Carlo. We finished 7th overall in the year point standings with 4 top five finishes, 10 top ten finishes, 2 heat race wins, and a Trophy Dash win. The Arce Racing Team was nominated for best appearing car, won most improved driver, and was recognized and awarded for a third consecutive year of 100% participation.

The 2003 season brought a great year with our best ever finish for the season championship points, 4th place. We had many good nights but still no main event win. Maybe next year. All of our sponsors were retained for the 2004 season. The year finished out real good with our 4th year of 100% participation and a nomination for best appearing car that we did not win. See you next season!

The 2004 season brought many changes with a disappointing 7th place championship point's finish. We had 15 top ten finishes and only 4 top fives. Still no main event win. Chassis experiment cost us 5 bad weeks at the track but, we learned a whole lot for the 2005 race season. I'm sorry to say that we had one of the biggest losses of our racing and that is the sponsorship of Vanorsdale Insurance Services. It was an unfortunate departure and all good things must come to an end. We would like to thank Vanorsdale Insurance Service for there many years of sponsorship and could not have ever performed or succeeded this far without their help. We hope that all the advertising that we have done with them over the years will retain and bring them new clients. Thanks again Vanorsdale for all your sponsorship! The year finished out good with 5 years 100% participation. Dave received the sportsman of the year trophy which was voted in by all the drivers in the late model class and finally the ARD team won best appearing car after three years of nomination!

The 2005 season has not started out so good. For the first time in 45 years Cajon Speedway will not be having a race season. I have no answers except no deals could be put together to keep the track alive. With good life still in the Monte Carlo the ARD team has decided to race at Orange Show Speedway (OSS) in San Bernardino. It will be a big change for us and probably exciting. The program is sponsored by ASA and will have 10 races this season. Stay tuned for the results!

The 2005 Arce Racing season at Orange Show Speedway was a complete success! After Cajon Speedway closed in 2004, Arce Racing still had good life in the 2002 Monte Carlo/Buick chassis race car. The word was, that Cajon Speedway StreetStocks would have no chance at other race tracks here on the west coast. With determination and an effort to use up the out dated race car, Arce Racing proved that the "old dinosaur" would be competitive at Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino. Although the 1/4 paved oval is smaller than Cajon, it brought much excitement and fun to the team. We won our first main event and brought home four trophy dash wins. Bid for the championship came down to the last race night with the race team bringing home second place. The Championship was missed by only 4 points. It was a great year of racing and we met lots of new people and gained some friends.

The Arce Racing season for 2006 at Orange Show Speedway was successful again. While the team dropped off to finish 4th in the championship points it was an easy year of racing. Competitors such as Jim Conklin, Anthony Mainella and Eric Ferguson made racing much more difficult but, fun! Times are changing again, the old Cajon Speedway #5 Monte Carlo has been sold. Arce Racing Development (ARD) has decided to build a new car with all the updates for today's racing. The new car is expected to be completed in July or August of 2007. For the first time in ten years the ARD team had no car to start the 2007 race season. Then out of no where, a true gentlemen by the name of Sherm Taylor offered to loan his #33 (Frankie) Orange Show Speedway Late Model race car to the ARD team. We will start the season! Many thanks to Sherm for helping us through our journey. Your thoughtfulness will not be forgotten!

For the 2007 Arce racing team things got a little busy. As you remember Sherm Taylor loaned the Arce racing team a Late Model for the season at Orange Show Speedway. But, early in the season the word was out that the Arce team was looking for a modified to run in the Lucas Oil Modified Series while the new Late Model was being built. We started the racing season At Orange Show Speedway and finished third in the championship points with the loaned latemodel. At the same time the Arce team stumbled across an old modified that raced at Cajon Speedway. Dave and crew reworked the old modified and raced 7 times in the Modified Series. The team finished 11th in the championship point. What a great year of racing and memorable. The new Late Model is still not complete and the team has decided to run the 2008 Lucas Oil Modified Series until the Late Model is completed. Again thanks to Sherm Taylor for the use of his Late Model.....We had a great season with it!
